Preview:  Michelle's Birth Story

When I first felt called to begin shooting Birth Stories, I had no idea what I was in for. All I knew is that the desire was there, the calling was there, and I know enough at this point in my life to follow that instinctive voice because it is always, always right. The three births I have attended have been wildly different from one another and in the best possible ways. I have learned so much.

And I am so in love with telling these stories.

Telling these stories are making their way into my dreams at night and to me, that's a pretty potent telling.

I am in awe of a woman's body. Totally and completely. And I am so honored to be allowed to be present, to tell these stories. It has surprised me, the stories that unfold. I tried to go in without expectation but have been so surprised to see the weaving of a story between the expectant mother and her significant other...the tenderness, the quiet fortitude, the being fully present.

Because, this. This moment. This one. The one after the hours of labor, the work, the determination. The one where she holds her first-born, her son, and looks at her husband like that. Blown away.

I am currently taking a 6 week Mindful Birthing class with the incredible doula, Julie Byers, so that I have a better understanding of the needs of a laboring mamma, how I can be fully present while being fully supportive. It's that important to me.

I'll be taking a limited number of Birth Stories for the summer. If interested, please reach out to me. I'd love to work with you.
